The Dordogne is a walkers and hikers paradise—with well marked routes to a variety of fascinating destinations.
Walking from Maison d’Aliénor heading left, and you’re on the road to Cogulot:
An easy stroll, past a sechoir (tobacco drying barn) takes you to a 12th century church & fascinating cemetery of Cogulot.
Walking from Maison d’Aliénor heading right, and you’re on the road to Eymet:
Stroll along a country road with more cows than cars, along your route, youʼll find:
- A 12th century Guard Tower, now a lovely home
- A Renaissance Chateau, now a retirement home,
- A bridge over the gently flowing Dropt River
- And youʼve arrived in a 12th century bastide, Eymet, where you can grab a map at the Tourist Office and take a self-guided tour.
Once you reach Eymet, stop and enjoy:
- Cafes, bistros & restaurants;
- Boulangeries, charcuteries and wine shops.
- Maison de la Presse for English language newspapers.
- Thursday morning Farmers Market
