Being Here

It’s easy to be here.

The Dordogne is a walkers and hikers paradise—with well marked routes to a variety of fascinating destinations.

Walking from Maison d’Aliénor heading left, and you’re on the road to Cogulot:

An easy stroll, past a sechoir (tobacco drying barn) takes you to a 12th century church & fascinating cemetery of Cogulot.

Walking from Maison d’Aliénor heading right, and you’re on the road to Eymet:

Stroll along a country road with more cows than cars, along your route, youʼll find:

  • A 12th century Guard Tower, now a lovely home
  • A Renaissance Chateau, now a retirement home,
  • A bridge over the gently flowing Dropt River
  • And youʼve arrived in a 12th century bastide, Eymet, where you can grab a map at the Tourist Office and take a self-guided tour.

Once you reach Eymet, stop and enjoy:

  • Cafes, bistros & restaurants;
  • Boulangeries, charcuteries and wine shops.
  • Maison de la Presse for English language newspapers.
  • Thursday morning Farmers Market
